But, the truth is that doctors hate detox diets for several reasons, which are outlined below.

According to WebMD, detox diets aren’t fun. They cause feelings of weakness and hunger, and because they are so low in nutrients, they can lead to nutritional deficiencies if you follow them for extended periods of time.

In addition to low energy levels, other nasty side effects associated with detox diets include nausea, lightheadedness, dizziness, muscle aches, and fatigue. Plus, it should come as no surprise that low blood sugar is another common side effect.

Any Weight Loss Won’t Be Permanent

Sure, you might lose some weight when you go on a detox diet because you aren’t going to be eating nearly as much as you normally do. But, is this weight loss going to last? Experts will tell you that the answer is: no. You will probably end up gaining the weight right back once you start eating normally again.

It Might Be Dangerous for Some People

Aside from the uncomfortable side effects that come with detox diets, these eating plans can be downright dangerous for some individuals who have other medical conditions.

Bottom line: detox diets aren’t worth following. There are better ways to lose weight and get in shape, and they don’t involve putting yourself on a potentially dangerous and extremely restrictive eating plan.
